Noninvasive body contouring is a growing field in cosmetic dermatology. Noninvasive contouring devices improve the appearance of the body by removing excess fat tissue, especially in areas where fat remains despite a healthy diet and exercise program. The technology can also be used to tighten the skin. This article reviews five noninvasive body contouring methods that have been approved by the FDA:
1. Cryolipolysis
2. Laser
3. High-intensity electromagnetic field
4. Radiofrequency
5. High-intensity focused ultrasound
These devices have emerged as a popular alternative to surgical body contouring due to their effectiveness, favorable safety, short recovery time, and lower cost. Although their results are not comparable to liposuction, they are an attractive option for patients who do not want to face the risks or costs of surgery. When used correctly and correctly, these devices have demonstrated high efficacy and safety.
